  • When Your Mind is Flustered, Sit and Meditate

As a writer, we sometimes have writer’s block.

Sometimes we have no ideas, other times we have too many to choose from.

In these moments, when my mind is racing, I always sit and meditate.

I sit, close my eyes, and just focus on my breathe.

When my mind wanders, I bring it back to the present moment.

I simply slow down, I listen to the sounds around me, the sensations I’m feeling, and wonder in this miracle called life.

You see in our modern world, we’re always rushing, focusing on money, motion, and achieving the next thing.

This is good. But sometimes we simply need a reset, calm our monkey mind, slow down, catch up with ourselves, become aligned and back into flow.

It’s almost as if our mind, body, and soul need to become aligned once again.

I feel deep meditation and being in flow during our meditation allows us to return back to center, become grounded and gives our mind, body and soul the quiet, silence, and recharge it’s been screaming for.

In fact, I just came out of my 20 minute and 1 second meditation and my mind, body and souls feels much more calm, aligned, and a deep sense of relaxation.

We often feel meditation is a waste of time, but it’s actually the opposite.

If you do it right, you will feel much more relaxed, achieve 10 to 100 times more, and be able to flow tithe the treacherous waters of life.

    Try it.

And remember, when your mind is flustered, sit and meditate.

  • Getting enough sleep makes life worth living (Sleep is a superpower)

Illustration by Adriandra Karuniawan on Unsplash

I read on reddit somewhere saying, “improving your sleep feels as good as winning the lottery.” I mean that’s not too far off.

When I have high quality sleep I feel like I can literally do anything.

My energy is sky high, I’m super optimistic, I have a zest for life, excited, eager to do stuff. It makes life worth living.

But, when I don’t get enough sleep I don’t feel like living, life is highly unenjoyable, I don’t want to talk with anyone, I know I’m not operating at my my full potential and it just f*cking sucks.

I mean I can still get through but it’s a slog, requires a ton of will power, digging deep, and my  battery literally feels like it’s at 1%.

I mean we all know this, but feeling the firsthand affects of sleep deprivation and high quality sleep is the only real way to know the difference.

Matthew Walker, author of “Why We Sleep: On Health and Longevity”, says, “The shorter your sleep, the shorter your life span.”

Walker describes sleep as “Mother Nature’s best effort yet at contra-death” and the “Swiss army knife of health”. He warns that sleeping under six or seven hours nightly “demolishes your immune system” and doubles cancer risk, emphasizing that sleep is a “non-negotiable biological necessity” rather than an optional luxury.

On Performance and the Brain, Walker calls sleep the “greatest legal performance-enhancing drug” and notes that the mind cannot accurately gauge its own sleep deprivation.

He also refers to sleep as “the best bridge between despair and hope”.

“When sleep is abundant, minds flourish. When it is deficient, they don’t.” Matthew Walker

“You are a professional sleeper. Make sleep your #1 appointment in your calendar. Nothing influences your conscious or subconscious existence more.” -Bryan Johnson.

“If you re-frame your identity as a professional sleeper, you take it as seriously as you would your job. That means you show up on time and treat it with a certain level of professionalism”. -Bryan Johnson

Eating my last meal and drinking 3 hours before bed has transformed my sleep quality.

For example, I used to eat 1 hour or even 30 minutes before bed and that left me either waking up at 4 in the morning to pee or waking up groggy, foggy headed, lethargic, wondering why am I still sleepy or why my brain is not functioning at its highest capacity.

However, I dove into research, articles, videos, podcasts from renowned scientist and biohackers like Bryan Johnson, on how to achieve the highest quality sleep and wake up energized to take on the day.

    What I found was…

    1. Sleep and wake up at the same time every day. Even on weekends to avoid social jet lag on Monday.
    2. Eat and drink 3 to 5 hours before bed
    3. Sleep is nature’s number 1 miracle drug

    The results:

    1. I wake up with super charged energy in the mornings
    2. I have a clear mind, rested mind and body. No more fogginess or grogginess.
    3. I am optimistic and in a much better mood.

“Less sleep does not get more done. It just shrinks the value of what’s happening”. -Bryan Johnson

So let’s all make a pact to protect our sleep, get to bed early, stop binge watching youtube or netflix and get the f*ck to bed. We can watch that sh*t tomorrow. It can wait.

Our energy, our dreams and our life is too precious to have f*cked up sleep which leads to f*cked up energy, mood and a f*cked up life.

Barring any health issues that do not allow us to get high quality sleep let’s make our sleep our priority.

    Our dreams depend on it.

  • Seek Guidance From Within (Consult With Myself)

Photo by Ian Stauffer on Unsplash

    When in doubt, look within.

Many times in life we look externally, guidance from elders, mentors, teachers, etc.

Although they all help, ultimately the answers we sought were within us all along.

In my own experience, many moments in life I looked for answers outside, from others, and so on.

It wasn’t until I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and meditated letting go and tuning in to my inner voice did I find the answers.

Through my meditation I truly understood the meaning of, “we are the universe experiencing itself.”

We are the universe. And so we already have the infinite wisdom within us.

Through all the chaos, noise and distractions of life, we will discover the solutions have always been within us.

You may ask, “what problems are we trying to solve?” or “what answers are you seeking”?

Well, for me, I had questions like,

“How do I emotionally regulate my nervous system”

“What business should I pursue to become wealthy?”

    “How can I find peace?”

“How can I overcome loneliness from being separated from my wife?”

“How can I achieve freedom, fulfilment, and financial freedom?”

Through meditation, quietly sitting in silence with myself, and listening to my intuition, my inner compass and tapping in to a higher vibrational frequency, I was able to hear the solutions.

I was able to hear my soul whispering the answers to me.

So whenever you have problems in life, first seek guidance from within.

You’ll often find by consulting yourself the answers were there all along.

  • Detach (Need Nothing, Need No One)

Photo by Nik Shuliahin 💛💙 on Unsplash

    I’ve always done things alone.

Study alone, work alone, hit the gym alone, travel alone.

So being on this path of solitude is nothing new to me.

It actually is my true nature, when I thrive and when I rejuvenate my energy.

In fact, being alone is one of my superpowers.

It allows me to enter my own world, live my fantasies, learn, read, explore and whatever I want.

For me, freedom is one of my highest values.

And when I learned about detachment from Buddhism it really resonated with me since at my core I am a free spirit, solo adventurer and love being in solitude.

I need nothing and need no one.

This feeling may seem horrible for some, but if you are anything like me, this feeling is liberating.

When in solitude, you are free to explore your wildest imaginations, read anything you like, do anything you like and truly be free to anything your heart desires.

Don’t get me wrong, I love being with good company, I love spending time with family and friends as well.

However, I deeply love my time with myself.

May you learn to detach and thrive in solitude.

    You are enough.

    You are all you need.

Need nothing and need no one.

  • Be Your Own Best Friend (Be kind to yourself)

Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

This year has been the hardest year of my life.

Separating from my wife has been heartbreaking, devastating and the most challenging ordeal I’ve ever had to experience.

However, through it all, I kept repeating the mantra, “be kind to yourself.”

You see, I am my own best friend. I always have been and always will.

You and I both have had so much sh*t happen to us. It’s truly a miracle that we are still here.

Life has many ups and downs.

The one truth is that you are always there. You’ve seen and experienced everything.

“No matter where you go there you are.”

Through the separation from my wife, I was visited by loneliness, silence, sadness and loss.

I had to be my own best friend.

I could have wallowed and cried in a fetal position for hours, days or months on end.

However, I truly know the preciousness of life and time.

I knew deep down life will go on, I will be well again and ultimately, nothing matters.

So with that awareness, I began to fix my sleep routine, my hygiene, get a super handsome haircut, eat the freshest, most nutritious foods, workout hard, dive back into my passions, work on my business, work on things I love and rekindle the most important relationship, which is with myself.

Look, I fully understand how difficult life can get.

In fact, life can become downright hopeless at times.

But, always remember, during your darkest hour, during your darkest moments, be your own best friend and be kind to yourself.

    With love,
    Sonam

  • Build Something Of Value

By building something of value, you get fulfillment, money and good karma.

When you simply extract, you feel useless, lack of purpose and soulless.

There is a reason why many successful people say to go all in on your strengths, your passions, what the world needs and what the world would pay you for.

And there is a reason why the Japanese created the Ikigai.

Ikigai (pronounced ee-kee-guy) is a Japanese concept that translates to “a reason for being” or “a reason to wake up in the morning”.

Our western interpretation, popularized by self-help books and online guides, ikigai is often visualized as a four-circle Venn diagram. This modern framework intersects what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.

At this perfect intersection lies your path to fulfillment, wealth, and joy. At least it has been for me.

My biggest sense of fulfillment, wealth and value has come from my basketball, soccer and personal training business.

It has given me so much joy to help others by helping them achieve their goals.

It has given me the most amount of income from any other business I have started since it is a service valued by others.

I feel truly blessed because it is truly what I love to do. Ever since I could remember I loved sports, athletics, movement, and helping others.

It’s crazy that now as an adult I get to do what I love and get paid for it.

And from the outside it may look hard to others since I have to stand all day, move around, run with my athletes sometimes, but I love it and it feels like play.

My plan now is to take my in-person business success online and to the world to provide even more value, earn even more money, achieve more fulfillment and experience more joy.

  • Want to live longer? Become Curious (One of the greatest superpowers to have)

Photo by Gary Butterfield on Unsplash

Want to live longer? Become Curious.

Curiosity supercharges memory, slows aging, helps you learn complex topics, and can even make hostile relationships harmonious.

Curiosity acts as a powerful mental tool that lights up your brain’s reward circuits, sharpens your focus, and transforms how you experience the world.

I am a very curious person. I always have been since I was a boy.

I had a fascination for learning.

This curiosity has allowed me to enrich my time here on Earth by having many different experiences, meeting new people, traveling to different countries, living a year in Thailand, a year in Mongolia, having sex with different women, reading a vast array of books, diving into many different podcasts, youtube channels and more.

This curiosity about the world is a superpower of mine.

And I’ve recently come to learn it can help slow down aging and help you live longer.

One of my biggest goals in life is to become a great polymath and my skill of curiosity is one of the biggest contributing factors to helping me achieve my goal of becoming good at many things.

In fact, curiosity isn’t just a personality trait—it’s one of the most powerful power skills you can build for your career, driving innovation, better decision-making, and deeper empathy.

“I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” -Albert Einstein

Walt Disney: “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

“Curiosity is the engine of achievement.” -Ken Robinson

    Stay curious my friends.

  • What If Writing Is My Ticket To Financial Freedom, Fulfillment and Immortality

Photo by Aaron Burden on Unsplash

I’ve always been fascinated with the written word ever since I can remember.

Something about putting words together to move someone just always captivated me.

I would write long essays as a kid.

I would write just to write when I was bored, needed to get my thoughts and emotions out.

If I wasn’t writing I was reading. And you know what they say, “to become a better writer, read a lot.”

Now as an adult I earn $80,000+ per year.

However, at 37 I have not hit the financial number I desire.

Of course, my excuse has been, being an entrepreneur is harder to make money than it is to just have a job.

But, I’ve been writing online for 11 years and still believe and have this feeling, writing on my blog, building up my subscribers, sending out my newsletter can be be my ticket to financial freedom, fulfillment and immortality.

This little writing habit and passion I’ve had since I was a kid can actually end up being the most lucrative business I have ever done.

I mean just look at successful writers such as J.K. Rowling, Tim Ferriss and guys who have sold their newsletters such as Sam Parr for $30 Million, Morning Brew for $70 Million, Shaan Puri for $25 Million and more.

That said, I have several tickets that will help me achieve my financial goals, fulfillment and immortality and writing is definitely one of them, because writing is my foundation. Everything I do stems from my writing.

What is your ticket to financial freedom, fulfillment and immortality?

  • Be Ruthless and Relentless With Your Action

    You vs. You.

Look, I have my moments of being a loving, compassionate and kind person.

But like any human, I also have my ruthless side.

Success, business, or the pursuit of any worthy endeavor is war.

It’s a war against yourself and others.

You have to be ruthless and relentless with your action to achieve your goals.

    No kumbaya, p*ssy shit here.

Either you do the work or you hire others to do the work.

Regardless, the work needs to get done.

You’ve got to get out to create serendipity (increase your surface area for luck) my wife, pro basketball, rich clients, online or in person – put yourself out here.

Use social media tools. “I hammer at all different social media platforms. I made a 10X level commitment to use social media creatively and effectively so that when people think sales, they think Grant Cardone. Do the same and watch your business grow. Be great. Nothing else pays.” Grant Cardone.

I will make the social media tools my bitch.

No small boy, p*ssy sh*t here.

You’ve got one chance at life. Go all the way f*cking in!!!

    Ah-hoo!!!

    Use EVERYTHING to your advantage.

Listen, if you die no will care but a few family and close friends.

The rest would actually be happy you died.

    Now that’s some real shit.

    We all have an ego.

    Everyone wants to succeed.

Since many are not succeeding they fuc*king hate seeing you win.

And if you die, good. Now you’re out of the race. One less person for them to worry about.

So, you see, how ruthless this world is.

You can come to grips with this reality or just avoid it.

Either way, it is what it is.

“I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.” – John D. Rockefeller.

“There is only one thing in this world, and that is to keep acquiring money and more money, power and more power. All the rest is meaningless. – Napoleon Bonaparte

  • The Universe Is Purely Physical

    The universe is purely physical.

We have star dust in our DNA. We came from the stars and were quite literally created in the Big Bang.

Stephen Hawking’s most famous quote about physics and the universe is: “The laws of physics can explain the universe without the need for a creator.”

There is no purpose, no meaning, no nothing.

Now, I do not say this out of pessimism. By nature, I am a very optimistic person.

I am just speaking in objective truth.

Irrespective of what any religion or human has said or thought.

The universe is made of time, space, and matter.

We as humans, are made up of chemical elements and compounds.

Even in a purely physical universe, we experience emotions because they are biological tools shaped by evolution to help us survive and reproduce

    Why Emotions ExistPhysical signals:

Emotions start as physical changes in your body, like a fast heartbeat or tensed muscles.Brain mapping: Your brain maps these physical changes and turns them into conscious feelings.

Survival guides: Feelings push you to react quickly to danger, seek rewards, and connect with other people.

    How Physical Processes Create Feelings

Neurotransmitters and hormones: Chemicals like dopamine, adrenaline, and serotonin move through your nervous system to change your mood and energy.

Evolutionary adaptation: Fear keeps you away from predators, while love and attachment help raise children and build communities.

Predictive processing: Your brain constantly guesses what your body needs based on past experiences and current surroundings, creating the subjective experience of an emotion.

“Physics is the law, and everything else is a recommendation” is a famous quote by Elon Musk highlighting his engineering and business philosophy.

On Humanity’s Place: “We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.” -Stephen Hawking
